Route of the hermitages of Lloret de Mar

This is a circular route of 19 km leaving from the centre of the village. The route allows you to visit several of the many hermitages of LLoret de Mar showing the rich heritage of modernist art scattered through oak forests. Furthermore one will also discover some of the amazing and beautiful beaches and coves on the coast of Lloret.

Returning to departure point


A fantastic circular route of 19 km that allows us you visit several of the many hermitages that are in Lloret de Mar, such as the Mare de Deu de las Alegries, the Mare de Déu de Gràcia and discover the rich modernist heritage of the municipality that leaves visitors open-mouthed.

It is a long excursion suitable for people accustomed to walking for several hours on terrains of Average Mountain. Furthermore walking through the village streets one discover the “Lloret de los Indianos” with stately homes of neoclassical modernist and eclectic style that the shippers who had enriched themselves in the high seas built in their hometown.

Lloret has beautiful trails that go through the woods near its beaches and urbanizations and here are some of the hermitages seen on this route:

Hermitage of Sant Quirze.

Located 200 meters from the cemetery and one km from the centre. It predates from the eleventh century and contains graffiti by Adrià Gual. Near this hermitage fragments of Roman pottery, a coin of Constantine and various tombs have been found.

It is the oldest hermitage of Lloret, so old that someone thinks it goes back to the victory of a Roman and Christian general named Quirze.

Hermitage of Les Alegries.

It was the first Parish of the Villa de Lloret and about 2.5 km from the centre. It was the Parochial Church since the year 1079 until 1522. It has a Romanesque bell tower and frescoes by Calandria. In Lloret it was tradition that the sea covered the whole plain to the place called Las Alegrías.

Hermitage of Sant Pere del Bosc

It is a unique environment, with its majestic building (10th century) old Benedictine monastery and a great historical heritage built by Puig i Cadafalch. It was also an asylum for the most destitute thanks to the generosity of Nicolau Font i Maig, an Indian of the time.

Located 5 km from the town centre formerly belonged to the fishermen’s guild. It dates from the 10th century and has a small chapel called the Virgen de Gracia. The owner who acquired it an American called Nicolau Font i Maig built this chapel and made an extensive amount of refurbishment and beautification works among which the Cross and the Angel stand out. In tribute to Nicolau Font i Maig his marble statue made in 1911 was placed in front of the sanctuary.

Hermitage of Santa Cristina

It is located 3.5 km from the centre of Lloret. The first news dates back to 1376. The temple dates from the end of the 18th century and is in neoclassical style and it has a rich marble altar made in Italy and an interesting collection of ex-votos and miniature ships.

Under the “Pi Centenari” celebrations during the so called Festa Major (The “Santa Cristina name celebration is on July 24th) breakfast of brotherhood of all the fishermen the typical “estofat” is eaten here.

the route begins and ends in the heart of Lloret de Mar.
